Security and remote access

We have to ensure a high level of data security. Therefore, most of our services require two-factor authentication (2FA) and/or a physical or VPN connection to the university network in Marburg. Accessing our protected services from the internet without a VPN connection is not possible and will result in an error message such as "Site can't be reached" or a similar message.

Two-factor authentication (2FA)

UMR staff:
If you already have 2FA enabled, please use your existing 2FA token. If you do not have 2FA yet, you need to actively apply for it through the 2FA Portal of the HRZ Marburg. Please go to Token beantragen to submit your request. During the application process, you can choose video-call authentication. This option is usually faster than authentication via postal mail.

Non-UMR staff:
A 2FA request has already been submitted for you along with your UMR account request. You will receive instructions by post on how to activate your 2FA.

Access to VPN

After activation of 2FA, you can set up VPN connection to the university Network. The HRZ Marburg provides instructions to set up VPN connection for various operating systems.
